Week 10 football preview

Stigler and Keota play high-impact games in the last week of the regular season. Keota is playing for the District B-8 title today. Stigler hopes for a big win on senior night to climb the District 3A-8 standings and possibly earn a home playoff game. Here's a peek at this week's matchups.

Nov. 2

Keota (6-3, 4-0 District B-8) at Cave Springs (5-4, 3-1 District B-8) 7 p.m.

Last meeting: Keota 58, Cave Springs 12 (Nov. 4, 2016)

Points scored-allowed: Keota: 316-170; Cave Springs: 246-309.

Notes: Keota's looking for its third straight district title. Keota wins the district with a win or a loss and an Arkoma win. Lions running back Keelyn Parker has rushed for more than 90 yards in four straight games and five times overall this season. The Lions have attained three sacks in five games. Cave Springs has won three of its games by eight or fewer points. The Lions are eighth in Class B in scoring defense, allowing 18.9 points per game.

Nov. 3

Stigler (7-2, 2-2 District 3A-8) vs. Muldrow (6-3, 3-1 District 3A-8) 7 p.m.

Last meeting: Muldrow 49, Stigler 36 (Nov. 4, 2016)

Points scored-allowed: Stigler: 339-190; Muldrow: 334-193.

Notes: Stigler can finish second in District 3A-8 and get a home first-round playoff game by beating Muldrow by at least 15 points and a Roland win against Eufaula. If Stigler beats Muldrow by fewer than 15 points or if simply wins with Eufaula winning, then the Panthers take third in the district and must play Sequoyah Tahlequah in the first round. With a loss, Stigler finishes fourth in District 3A-8 and plays at Jay in the first round. Stigler is eighth in Class 3A with 37.6 points per game, and Muldrow is 10th with 37 per game. Stigler's Garret Brooks has rushed for 1,857 yards this season, standing third in the state.

Porum (2-6, 0-4 District B-8) vs. Arkoma (6-3, 3-1 District B-8) 7 p.m.

Last meeting: Arkoma 56, Porum 8 (Nov. 4, 2016)

Points scored-allowed: Porum: 188-372; Arkoma: 348-266.

Notes: Arkoma has won the last two meetings. Porum has dropped its past four games.

Quinton (1-7, 1-4 District A-8) at Gore (7-2, 3-2 District A-8) 7 p.m.

Last meeting: Quinton 34, Gore 6 (Nov. 3, 2016)

Points scored-allowed: Quinton: 81-250; Gore: 262-97.

Notes: Quinton is out of playoff contention and Gore has clinched a playoff spot, but Quinton could knock Gore down to a fourth-place finish in the District A-8 standings by beating the Pirates (if Savanna wins). Quinton has won the last four meetings with Gore, but the Pirates have improved tremendously this season with a high-scoring offense that has racked up 38 or more points four times.
