Stigler visits Henryetta, more area hoops

Stigler hits the road tonight while Kinta starts tournament play. Here's the hoops slate for today.

Stigler at Henryetta

Girls: Panthers (2-0) at Knights (0-2) 6:30 p.m.

Last game: Stigler 51, Sallisaw 46; Okemah 79, Henryetta 17

Notes: Stigler is pushing a balanced attack, with three double-digit scorers in its first two games. Henryetta allowed more than 70 points in its first two games.

Boys: Panthers (0-2) at Knights (0-2) 8 p.m.

Last game: Sallisaw 62, Stigler 45; Okemah 62, Henryetta 61.

Notes: Stigler played at a high pace against Sallisaw on Dec. 2. Even as he recovers from an ACL tear suffered early in the year, Stigler center Jaxson McAlvain has played with high intensity.

Kinta girls (3-3) vs. Oaks-MIssion (1-1) 4:30 p.m. (Armstrong Bank Tournament)

Last game: Canadian 24, Kinta 13; Oaks-Mission 52, Watts 20.

Notes: Kinta has lost three straight games with Cianna Titsworth out with a partial ACL tear. Still, the Eagles have maintained tenacious defense, allowing 29.7 points per game in her absence. The winner plays Webbers Falls on Thursday, Dec. 8. The loser would play Canadian that day.

Porum girls (2-1) vs. Cave Springs (2-1) 7:10 p.m. (Armstrong Bank Tournament)

Last game: Porum 60, Okay 45; Cave Springs 52, Fayetteville Eagles 21.

Notes: Porum allowed 37.3 points per its first three games. The Panthers had two players, Aubrie Ayers and Alexis Culbreth, pulling double-doubles against Okay on Dec. 2. The winner plays Hulbert on Dec. 8. The loser faces Panama that day.

Kinta boys (6-0, ranked No. 1 in Class B) vs. Cave Springs 8:30 p.m. (Armstrong Bank Tournament)

Last game: Kinta 67, Canadian 41.

Notes: The Eagles are off to their best start under coach Jim Jenson, who is in his fourth year with the team. The winner plays Porum on Friday, Dec. 9. The loser faces Panama that day.

Keota vs. Howe

Girls: Keota Lions (1-1) vs. Howe Lions (5-0, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A) 6:30 p.m.

Last game: Keota 53, McCurtain 21; Howe 77, Smithville 23.

Notes: Howe was victorious in its first two Green Valley Conference games while Keota split its first two.

Boys: Keota Lions (1-1) vs. Howe Lions (3-3) 8 p.m.

Last game: Keota 39, McCurtain 37. Oktaha 58, Howe 54.

Notes: Keota scored 39 in both of its first two games. Howe has won both of its games thus far against Green Valley Conference opponents while Keota split its first two.
