Stigler rewarded with seven All-District honorees

Stigler's football team received a nice reward for winning the District 3A-8 title and finishing 10-3 after making the Class 3A state quarterfinal by attaining seven All-District players.

Senior wide receiver Dawson Barger was named the district Most Valuable Player after breaking the school receiving yards record. Barger, who also saw time at quarterback, had 1,195 yards receiving and 13 touchdown catches. He was second on the team in rushing with 437 yards, as well as seven touchdowns. Defensively, he was second on the team with 100 tackles.

Senior quarterback T.J. Spearman made it after improving immensely from his junior season, completing 57.6 percent of his passes, 6.3 percent more than last year. He had 2,906 total yards, more than twice as many as he did in 2015. Also, he compiled 46 touchdowns (36 passing and 10 rushing).

Seniors Steven Mosley and Justin Geralds were chosen as offensive linemen. Seniors Andrew Moore and Triston Mobley were picked as defensive linemen. Moore had 75 tackles, six sacks, three fumble recoveries and blocked two field goals. Mobley had nine tackles.

Senior defensive back Ryan Bryant was also chosen. He had 61 tackles, recovered a fumble and had two interceptions.

Chris Risenhoover was named the district Coach of the Year after earning his third 10-win season with Stigler.
