Stigler plays districts at Atoka, Porum looks to bounce back, more area playoff hoops

Stigler basketball will follow the charcoal veins down Highway 69 to Atoka tonight for the district game. For the girls team, it will serve as a gentle open to the postseason. Meanwhile, Porum's boys team will try to bounce back from a rough home loss to Okay as it plays a hot Strother squad in the consolation bracket of the Class A regionals in Okemah. Also, Kinta and McCurtain's girls teams continue in the consolation bracket of the Class B regionals in Henryetta.

Stigler at Atoka

Girls: Panthers (20-3, ranked 11th in Class 3A) at Wampus Cats (2-16) 6: 30 p.m.

Last game: Stigler 45, Heavener 38.

Notes: Shauntey Hays leads Stigler with 14.8 points per game while Madison Gilmore averages 11.3 per game.

Boys: Panthers (3-18) at Wampus Cats (14-8) 8 p.m.

Last game: Heavener 49, Stigler 46; Atoka 83, Byng 79.

Notes: Atoka has yet to lose to an unranked team this season.

Kinta girls (8-17) vs. Moyers (13-14) 1:30 p.m.

Last game: Kinta 52, Milburn 35; Caney 48, Moyers 39.

McCurtain girls (7-19) vs. Whitesboro (11-14) 6:30 p.m.

Last game: McCurtain 47, Battiest 44; Sasakwa 53, Whitesboro 38.

Porum boys (13-11) vs. Strother (18-8) 8 p.m.

Last game: Okay 79, Porum 36; Strother 74, Keota 42.

Notes: Colt Macom (10 points) was the lone Panther in double figures in the regional opener against Okay on Thursday. Porum averages 54.9 points per game. Strother scores 53.4 per game, including 63.7 per the last six games. The Yellow Jackets have won five of their last six games.
