Stigler opens at Stilwell, more area baseball, softball

Stigler baseball and Quinton softball start tournament play today with multiple games on the docket. The Panthers look for a strong tourney performance after their disappointment at Atoka last weekend. Stigler coach Kevin Wilkett said that with National Oklahoma Association of Homeschools-Tulsa (NOAH-Tulsa) he expects his team to reach the tournament final. Stigler placed third at Stilwell last year following a semifinal loss to NOAH-Tulsa. Here's a look at the full slate of area baseball and softball for today.

Baseball

Quinton (1-7) vs. Savanna (11-8) 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m.

McCurtain (4-7) at Gans (5-8) 4 p.m.

Stigler (13-9, ranked 12th in Class 3A) vs. Stilwell (14-7) 11 a.m. (Stilwell Tournament)

Porum (18-6) vs. Kinta (0-6) 5 p.m.

Softball

Stigler (11-6, ranked 18th in Class 5A) vs. Talihina (0-6) 4 p.m.

Stigler vs. Sallisaw (12-5, ranked 16th in Class 5A) 6 p.m.

Porum (10-10, ranked 20th in Class 3A) vs. Gans (8-9) 4:30 p.m.

McCurtain (14-13, ranked 20th in Class A) at Vian (6-12) 5:30 p.m.

Quinton (13-11, ranked 13th in Class 3A) at Tushka (18-6, No. 1 in Class 3A) 12 p.m. (Caney Tournament)
