Stigler baseball hosts bi-district, more playoff action

Stigler baseball looks to fly through its first bi-district series as a Class 4A team as it plays at home. Also, Stigler softball and McCurtain baseball are in regional action on the road.

Stigler baseball (22-9) vs. Wagoner (5-23) 4 p.m., 6 p.m.

Notes: Stigler took second in District 4A-8, with Poteau winning the district on a tiebreaker based on marginal runs scored between the two games the Panthers and Pirates split. Wagoner was last in District 4A-7, losing all 10 district contests. The Panthers look to keep running after winning seven of their last eight games and scoring 64 runs in that span. Wagoner won its regular-season finale after losing 10 of its previous 11 games.

Class 5A slow-pitch softball regional at McLoud

Stigler (12-7) vs. Morris (29-8, ranked first in Class 5A) 2:15 p.m., vs. McLoud (22-11, ranked ninth in Class 5A)-Lexington (20-4, ranked eighth in Class 5A) winner 3:30 p.m. (with a win), OR vs. McLoud-Lexington loser 4:45 p.m. (with a loss)

Notes: Stigler scored 80 runs in four district games, compared with 41 in three by Lexington, 56 in three by McLoud and 20 in two by Morris.

Class B baseball regional at Red Oak

McCurtain (17-9) vs. Coleman (16-9, ranked 13th in Class B) 2 p.m., vs. Red Oak (18-11, ranked third in Class B)-LeFlore (13-12) winner 4 p.m. OR Red Oak-LeFlore 6 p.m.

Notes: McCurtain scored 43 runs in three district games to take home hardware for the first time on six years. Coleman tallied 39 in three district contests.
