Quinton opens Porum Cross Telephone tourney, Stigler visits Sallisaw

The Porum Cross Telephone Tournament opens today, with four area teams playing. The boys bracket features at least three teams that have a legitimate chance of winning the tourney. On the girls side, Quinton and Porum are looking for an achievement to solidify their positioning for the postseason. Here is the slate for today. Quinton girls (11-1, ranked 14th in Class 2A) vs. Panola (0-16) 4:30 p.m. (Porum Cross Telephone Tournament)

Last game: Quinton 48, Savanna 30; Clayton 52, Panola 23.

Last meeting: Quinton 46, Panola 11 (Jan. 19, 2016)

Notes: Quinton has won 10 straight games. Panola has scored more than 30 points three times. Quinton has allowed 29.2 points per game. Abby Myers has 30 rebounds in the past five games for Quinton.

Notes: Keota has lost five straight games, including the first three since Greg Grimmett took over as head coach. Quinton's Tristan Etchison has scored in double figures every game this season.
