Quinton to discuss move to eight-man football

The Quinton School Board will hold a special meeting today in the Quinton Event Center theater at 7:30 p.m. to discuss a transition to eight-man football. Quinton Public Schools Superintendent Stacey Henderson and Quinton High School Principal Dane Lemons will present information about eight-man football. The move would be made in 2018. A meeting was held at the Quinton football stadium on Sept. 18 where players, relatives and community members were able to engage in the discussion of the possible move.

Since the 48 largest eight-man football schools are in Class B, Quinton would be placed in that class. Two Stigler News-Sentinel area schools, Keota and Porum, currently play eight-man football in Class B. Porum has an average daily membership (ADM) of 123.44, 37.97 less than that of Quinton.
