Outlaws roll through Powell Stadium

Keota’s football team’s first meeting with Weleetka since trouncing the Outlaws in the 2015 Class B semifinals was a different affair, as the Lions lost 44-0 at home on Friday, Sept. 9, with running back Garren Drummonds out due to a knee injury.

Weleetka’s Jon Dye fumbled the first snap of the game before picking it up and scrambling 52 yards for a touchdown. On Keota’s first offensive drive, Chaz Williams threw a pass that tipped off the hands of Keelyn Parker and landed in the grasp of Weleetka’s Jacob Stewart.

After Dye ran 28 yards for a score with 8:53 left, Parker and Knute Dumas put the Lions on the march. Dumas ran for a first down.

Then, Parker powered his way 15 yards to Weleetka’s 29-yard line. Stewart intercepted Williams at the 18-yard line. The Outlaws (1-1) finished the first quarter leading 22-0 and entered the locker room at halftime with a 38-0 advantage.

Dumas totaled 38 yards rushing on 20 carries and went 4-for-11 passing for 61 yards and an interception.

Parker ran 44 yards on 10 rushing attempts and caught two passes for 41 yards. Jackson Cole hauled in a 19-yard pass from Dumas.

Williams and Kaleb Heffner tied for the team lead with 10 tackles. Dumas collected nine tackles. Kevin McKenzie picked up eight tackles.

McKenzie, Williams and Remington McGuire collected sacks.

Keota (0-2) will try to recover at home against Webbers Falls (0-2) on Sept. 16. The Warriors lost 70-28 to Arkoma at home on Sept. 9. They have allowed 120 points thus far this season.
