Lady Bulldogs take the Lion’s share

The McCurtain Lady Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with Keota’s Lady Lions on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and came out on top with a final score of 58-34.

In the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs scored 10 points to the Lady Lions 7. Within the second quarter the Bulldogs showed just how determined they were to win, by scoring 18 points to Keota’s 2, bringing the score at half-time 28-9.

After the half, the Bulldogs continued to widen their lead over the Lions, scoring 12 points to the Lady Lions’ 15. In the fourth and final quarter the Lady Bulldogs scored an additional 18 points to the Lions’ 10, bringing the final score 58-34.

The Lady Bulldogs top scorer of this game was Piper Reed with 12 points. Following Reed with 11 points was Mattie McClellan.

The top scorer for the Lions was Mariah Byrd with 18 points.

Coach Bryan Schlekeway commented, “It was a good way to end up the regular season. Just getting ready for playoffs now is important. It was a good win, and we’re looking forward to playoffs and how well we can do there.”

The Lady Bulldogs are currently ranked 18-6. The Keota Lions are currently ranked 6-15.
