Keota hosts Green Valley Conference Tournament

Keota's basketball teams will play host for the Green Valley Conference Tournament, which runs Dec. 12-17. McCurtain will also play in the tournament as its boys team looks to make noise against conference foes after coming up short in its third place game at the Eastern Oklahoma State College Tournament. Also, Kinta co-hosts the First National Bank Classic at the McAlester Expo Center Dec. 12-17. Here's the slate of games for today.

McCurtain girls vs. Howe (7-2, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A) 4 p.m. (GVC tourney)

Last game: ; Fort Smith Northside 54, Howe 46.

Last meeting: Howe 89, McCurtain 19 (Nov. 10, 2015)

Notes: McCurtain has lost seven of its last eight games. Howe won its first seven games.

Keota girls (1-4) vs. Arkoma (1-1) 8 p.m. (GVC tourney)

Last game: Wetumka 19, Keota 17. Arkoma 41, Gore 39.

Last meeting: Arkoma 53, Keota 36 (Jan. 29, 2016)

Quinton girls (4-1, ranked No. 16 in Class 2A) at Oktaha (0-6) 6:30 p.m.

Last game: Quinton 43, Morris 24; Clayton 44, Oktaha 28.

Last meeting: Quinton 43, Oktaha 21 (Dec. 13, 2015)

Notes: Quinton routed two ranked teams to win its home tournament. The Tigers have lost five of their six games by double digits.

Kinta girls (3-5) vs. Stuart (6-4) 6:40 p.m. (FNB Classic)

Last game: Canadian 31, Kinta 18; Smithville 53, Stuart 37.

Notes: Kinta is trying to bounce back as leading scorer Cianna Titsworth works back into form after coming back from injury last week. Stuart, which averages 52.1 points per game, will challenge the Eagles' tough defense. Kinta has been outstanding on that end, allowing 31 points per game.

Kinta boys (8-1, ranked No. 1 in Class B) vs. Pittsburg (4-5) 8 p.m. (FNB Classic)

Last game: Webbers Falls 53, Kinta 51; Savanna 51; Pittsburg 41.

Last meeting: Kinta 61, Pittsburg 44 (Jan. 9, 2016)

Notes: Kinta won its first eight games before falling to Webbers Falls in the Porum Armstrong Bank Tournament final. The Eagles met Pittsburg in the Pittsburg Dee Foster Invitational final last season. PIttsburg has had varying offensive success, scoring 52.7 points per game, but will be pressured by a Kinta defense that has allowed 38.6 points per game.

Quinton boys (1-3) at Oklaha (5-2) 8 p.m.

Last game: Warner 50, Quinton 47; Oktaha 78, Clayton 53.

Notes: Quinton's loss to Warner was its second within eight days that was decided by three points. The Tigers' third-place victory at the Hartshorne Pick and Shovel Classic was its first win of the season against a ranked foe. Oktaha averages 67.6 points per game, compared with the Savages' 44.4 per game.
