Area Fishing Report for Independence Day week

As America celebrates its independence on Tuesday and many people may be thinking about fishing during their vacation, here is a look at the conditions on Lake Eufaula and the Robert S. Kerr reservoir. Both reports were submitted on Sunday.

Lake Eufaula

Elevation: Above average

Water temperature and clarity: Normal and murky

White crappie, black crappie: Action is fair with jigs and minnows around docks and standing timber.

White bass, striped bass, striped hybrid: Action is good with hair jigs and live shad below the dam.

Blue catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish: Action is good with cut bait and live shad around the main lake and river channel.

Kerr Reservoir

Elevation: Normal

Water clarity: Muddy

Flathead catfish: Action is fair with shad and while noodling near rocks and shorelines.

Largemouth bass: Action is slow with buzz baits and spinner baits near brush structures, shallow areas and weed beds.

Black crappie: Action is good with jigs and minnows around the creek channels and river mouth.
