Wes Bumpers

Wes Bumpers was born on Sept. 26, 1979, in Fort Smith, Ark. His parents were Rick Bumpers and Maylynda (Rogers) Huggins. He passed away in McAlester on Dec. 9, 2019, at the age of 40.

He is survived by two daughters, Whitley Bumpers and Lacey Bumpers of the home; his dad, Rick Bumpers of Stigler; his mom, Maylynda Huggins and husband, Jon, of Stigler;  three sisters, Ashley Olzawski and husband, Craig, of Stigler, Amanda Hare and husband, Allen, of Stigler and Amber Dill and Brent Burke of Stigler; two step-brothers, Thomas Huggins of Okmulgee and Stephen Huggins of Okmulgee; maternal grandmother, Sue “Mawmaw” Rogers of Clayton and paternal grandmother, Mary Nell “Granny” Bumpers of Stigler; grandparents, Carroll and Lana Huggins of Stigler; numerous aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews; special friends, Mary Ann Bumpers (the mother of his children) and her children, Blaine White and Regan Martin, Tabetha Bryce and her children, Trenton, Traceton and Trevon Dill, Paige Oldham, and Winter Wolfe and her sons, Reece and Holden. 

Wes was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Deon “Grandpa” Bumpers and Douglas “PaPa” Christian Rogers and one brother, Christopher Daniel Walker.

Wes loved his family, especially his daughters, his Mama, his Mamaw, and his Granny. He had two very special dogs he loved, Tank and Whiskey. He also loved hunting, fishing and entertaining his friends and family. He was the owner of numerous businesses in the area.

Wesley loved football, especially his high school football days, OU football and the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a member of Stigler High School Class of ’98 and played college football at NEO. At a very young age (seven years old), Wesley’s dad taught him to operate heavy equipment, he has used this knowledge throughout his life in personal and business areas. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec.14, 2019, at Whitefield Baptist Church with Bro. Tommie Parker officiating. Interment followed at Stigler City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Viewing was at Mallory Chapel in Stigler from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday; from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, with family visitation from 5 to 7:00 pm and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Pallbearers were Kendrick Bates, Casey Marlatt, Kendell Trickett, Chad Allensworth, Charlie Gann, Glenn Ford, Austin Oldham, Wes Edwards, Jeremiah Coleson and Brian Underwood.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Hayes, Kevin Brannon, Chuck Cloud, Curt Goff, Brian Hale, Kyle Bates and Stigler High School Class of ‘98.
