Thomas Kesterson

Thomas D. Kesterson, 84, of Stigler, passed away Sunday at Broadway Manor Nursing Home in Muskogee. He was born Oct. 21, 1935 in McAlester, to Barney Huston and Alma Georgia (Lawrence) Kesterson.

 Thomas served in the Army for six years during the Korean War. Thomas had met the love of his life, Miss Jissie Phillips and they were married on June 8, 1957, in Bakersfield, Calif., and they made their home in El Paso for three years. They moved back to California for 10 years before moving to El Reno, Nev. in 1970. They moved to Stigler in 1996. He was a Greyhound bus driver for years until he retired.

Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Hester and Robin Bailey; his son, Thomas Kesterson, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and special friends, Brian and Melanie.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jissie Kesterson; a son, Barney Kesterson; a daughter, Kathy Ginther and a brother, Jack Kesterson.

Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Fields Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating.

Burial followed immediately under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
