Raymond H. Wilson, 95, of Quinton, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1923, at McCurtain to George W. and Thelma (Fox) Wilson. Raymond had worked in the family business, Wilson Transfer Co., first with his father since 1948 and later on with his sons. He semi-retired in 2009 to spend more time at home with his wife, Billye, but was always in close contact with his boys in case they needed advice.

He enjoyed raising and working with his cattle and every day that he was able, he went to the pasture to check on them. Along with his cattle, he raised a garden and provided okra, as well as pecans, to family and friends. He and Billye planted the pecan trees when they moved into their current home in 1967. Everyone looked forward to okra in the summer and pecans anytime, since he always had a supply ready. Most evenings, Raymond could be found on the front or back porch ready for visitors. He loved his family and friends and the times he spent with them. Raymond was a 32nd degree Mason. He’ll be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Raymond is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Billye Wilson, of the home; his two sons and their wives, Lindell and Donna Wilson of McAlester and Bruce and Lauralea Wilson of Quinton; his sister and her husband, Melba and James Albright of Fort Smith, Ark.; his five grandchildren, Blake and Cambria Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Tyler and Destanie Wilson, Katelynn and Elisabeth Wilson; his five great-grandchildren, Coleman, Conlee, Raylin, Grayson and Ellison Wilson.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Wilson; an infant son, Roger Harold Wilson; two sisters, Elaine Ruth Wilson and Ahmo Wilson McNeil; four brothers-in-law, Tom Bonner, Leo Vaughn, Bob McNeil and Grady Clunn; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Clunn Hardy and Theda Clunn McKay and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emmett and Cora Clunn.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at Quinton First Baptist Church with the Rev. C.B. Coplen III officiating. Eulogist was Lonnie Clunn.

Pallbearers included Blake Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Ron Manning, Duwayne Rouse and Aaron Manning.

Burial followed at Quinton Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
