Ray Treadway, 87, of Lequire, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Haskell County Community Hospital in Stigler. He was born March 21, 1932, in Whitefield to John and Birdie (Thomas) Treadway. He grew up in Whitefield, where he was educated. He worked on the family farm and harvested from Oklahoma to California. Ray married Janie Pearson in 1952 and they made their home on Rocky Ridge until her death in 1978. He worked for Haskell County for many years as an operator. He also worked as a truck driver for many years. His passion was growing watermelons and working in the garden and enjoyed playing bingo.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Trudy Bowen and husband, Denver, of Lequire; his two sons, Ron Treadway and David Treadway of Stigler; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John and Birdie Treadway; his wife, Janie Treadway; three brothers, John, Thomas and Vernon Treadway and two sisters, Marie Garrett and Mary Ary.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Whitefield Cemetery with the Rev. Denver Bowen officiating. Pallbearers include Marvin Bowen, John Treadway, Travis Purdom, Rachel Radebaugh, Rachel Treadway and Gabriel Purdom.
Burial will follow immediately under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
