Ray Cloud

Ray Arland Cloud of Stigler was born April 18, 1938, near Quinton to Burnie Sherman and Ruby Esther (Mathis) Cloud. He passed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on Feb. 22, 2019, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He is survived by one daughter, Pam Cloud Fioretti and husband, Mike, of Sallisaw; one son, Mike Cloud and wife, Scarlett, of Muldrow; four grandchildren, Garrett Cloud and Emmy Cloud, of Muldrow, Heidi Couch and husband, Alex, of Edmond and Sydney Fioretti of Oklahoma City; two great-grandsons, Landon and Cade Couch of Edmond; two brothers, Leon Cloud and wife, Shirley, of McAlester and Gary Cloud and wife, Barbara, of Quinton; three sisters, Sue Blankenship and husband, Bill, of Hugo, Shirley Braswell and husband, Tommy, of McAlester and Linda Reeder and husband, Tom, of Savanna; one sister-in-law, Carol Cloud of McAlester and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; one sister, Bonnie Pugh and her husband, Lowell; three brothers, James Cloud, Jack Cloud and his wife, Helen, and Arlie Cloud and his wife, Joyce; two infant siblings; his in-laws, Cecil and Jessie Wallace and sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Wallace Russell.

A 1955 graduate of Kinta High School, Ray was a drafted Army veteran who guarded the Berlin Wall as a military police officer during the Berlin Crisis. He retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company after nearly 30 years. For the past 46 years, he has served as a deacon and an active member of Main Street Baptist Church in Stigler. He served on the board for the Southside Fire Department. He was also a farmer.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Main Street Baptist Church in Stigler with the Rev. Jeff Berger and the Rev. Jarrod Cloud, Ray’s nephew, officiating. Burial followed at Featherston Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.

Viewing was from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Stigler with family visitation from 3 to 5 p.m.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Ron Cloud, Ryan Braswell, Jeremy Cloud, Brandon Reeder, Daniel Cloud and James Ray Cloud.

Honorary pallbearers were Fred Russell, Chick Kelley, Jerry Fowler, David Ward, Sam Kennon, Joe Benham, Tom Highfill, Bob Alley, Conard Hurst, John Pruett and Deacons of Main Street Baptist Church, Pat Clement, Lonnie Davis, Carroll Huggins, David McSpadden, Justin Price, David Morgan and Brad Cook.

Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Baptist Church, 401 E. Main St., Stigler.
