Ray Barnes

Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park for longtime Olive resident, Ray Barnes.
Officiating was Pastor Mark Jackson.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Don Smith Funeral Home.
Ray was born Dec. 16, 1933, at Stigler,  son of the late Ervin and Mary Barnes.
Ray and Peggy Rowell were united in marriage on June 18, 1955, at Jenks, and had made their home in the Olive area since 1967.
Ray had served in the  Army and had worked as a route supervisor for ARA Services in Tulsa until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Archie.
Ray Barnes departed this life Dec. 20, 2016, at the age of 83 years and four days.
Ray graduated from Stigler High School in 1952 and attended Wilburton Junior College for two years.  He enjoyed working in his garden and growing large sunflowers, helping Darrell with the wells and taking care of his cattle. But, he enjoyed nothing more than playing with his grandchildren. He was never too tired to pull them in their wagon or push them in the swing. He was a wonderful, kind man and is missed very much.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy of the home; his daughter, Debbie Barnes, Drumright; his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Tressa Barnes, Olive; brothers, Boyd Barnes, Clearwater, Fla., Doyle Barnes and wife, Regina, Stigler, and Jim Barnes, Locust Grove; sisters, Betty Rose and husband, Tommy, Coweta and Doris Smith, Haskell; and grandchildren, Dakota McClendon, Darielle and Trista Barnes.
