R. Dale Bowen

R. Dale Bowen, a retired pastor, from Tulsa, went to his heavenly home Sept. 18, 2018.

Dale was saved at the age of 10 at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church and baptized in the creek by Claude Mitchell’s house. 

He was licensed to preach Sept. 12, 1956. He pastored churches in Arkansas, Texas, Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma from 1966-68; was BSU Director at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton; received his diploma in Theology Dec. 18, 1970, from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and Doctor of Theology on May 9, 1975, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. His hobby was ventriloquism.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; sons, Mark and Jeff and wife, Angie; grandsons, Jacob and Alex; sister-in-law, Lana of McAlester and nephews, Mike and Dennis of Independence, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Norma Bowen; his sister, Katherine and two brothers, Leon and Bob.
