Penny Netherlain

Penny Jo (Cameron) Netherlain, 60, passed peacefully on Dec. 20, 2020, in Fort Smith, Ark. She married the love of her life, Steve Netherlain in 1978, being together 25 years before his passing. They made their home in Keota and the Cartersville area.

Penny and Steve spent many days together, working in the shop together, going to auctions and taking care of their home and family. Penny loved to spend time fishing with her granddaughter, Maghen and crafting with her daughter, Shelby. She attended Unity Baptist Church in Keota where she had many friends and loved ones. Penny spent many years taking care of others in nursing facilities and in their home, she was a natural caretaker and had a heart for people.

She is survived by two daughters: Shana Netherlain of Stigler, Okla.; Shelby Netherlain of Moore Okla.; significant other, Charles “Charlie” Cavanaugh of Keota, Okla.; her mother, Ms. Nancy Moore, of Fort Smith, Ark.; her brother, Frank Cameron, of Fort Smith, Ark.; her sisters, Peggy Cameron of Roland and Carolyn Nix; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Harmon Stephen “Steve” Netherlain and step-father, David “Fat” Nix.

Viewing was held at Mallory Chapel in Keota from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Graveside services were held at Iron Bridge Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23 with the Rev. Scott Welch officiating. Interment under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory.
