Pauline Sampson

Pauline Sampson, 91, of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Chapel Ridge Nursing Home in Fort Smith. She was born April 24, 1926, in Keota to her birth parents, E.M. and Amy (Owens) Whitaker; her adopted parents at the age of three years old, Jack and Gertrude Corder.

Pauline grew up in Keota and graduated in the class of 1944. She married Clint Sampson on Dec. 21, 1945, in Stigler and they made their home in Lawton. They lived in Germany and France while Clint was serving in the Army. They moved home to Stigler in 1979. She attended Stigler First Assembly of God Church for many years.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Janice Larson and husband, Rob, of Goodyear, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Mathew Sergei Larson of Avondale, Ariz. and Jana Sampson of Lawton; two step-grandchildren, Stacy Snider of Ponca City and Tiffany Torrey of Jackson, N.J.; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; her brother, David Whittiker of Spiro; two sisters, Faye McKinney of Bokoshe and Flora Drew of Albuquerque, N.M.

Pauline was preceded in death by her birth parents, E.M. and Amy Whitaker; her adopted parents, Eugene and Anna Corder; her husband of 68 years, Clint Sampson; a son, Michael Sampson; six brothers, Charlie, Riley, Ralph, Lee, Lawrence and Eugene and four sisters, Mae Crase, Gertrude Sanders, Allene Nance and Sue Bailey.
