Paul Knell

Paul Edwin Knell, 84, of Stigler passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, Mitchell Manor in McAlester, Okla. Paul was born July 23, 1936, in Baltimore, Md. to Clarence Robert and Hazel (Couch) Knell. 

When Paul joined the United States Air Force his mother had to sign for him because he was under age. He served his country for 20 years, starting in the Korean War. He retired in 1974. He worked for the postal service and Ed Stricklin Construction for many years.

Paul took great pride in how his place looked and loved his lawn mower. He was a member of Haskell County Recreational Club.

Paul is survived by his children, Lisa Knell Fitzgerald Mims of Florida, Paul Edwin Knell II of Augusta, W.V., Ricky Dean and LouAnn Knell of Quinton and Denise Nelson of Ardmore; seven grandchildren, Rocky and Ame, Rusty and Jill, Peyton Knell, Brandie, Tracy, Tricia, Addie; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Bob Knell of Dover, Del., Kurt Knell of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Leslie Knell of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Karen Pappas of Glen Burnie, Md.  

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hazel Knell; his wife, Darlene Knell; his son, Patrick Knell; his brother, Wayne Knell; a grandson; and a great-great grandson, Avery Dwayne Nelson.

A graveside service was held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 3 p.m. in Garland Cemetery with Mr. Ed Stricklin officiating. Pallbearers included Rick Nell, Rusty Eakle, Rocky Knell and Peyton Knell.
