Lorine Nadine (Cupp) Miller, a resident of Stigler, died here Feb.7. She was 91.

Nadine was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Lindsay, a daughter of Lee Herman and Lillian Druie (Massey) Cupp.

She grew up in Coalgate and, in 1945, accompanied her mother to relocate to California. There she met and, on May 28, 1948, married the love of her life, George Edward Miller. To this union were born three children; Reta Ilene, Chris Joaquin and Farrell Lee. Following the birth of their first child in 1949, George – then a farm laborer and practicing musician – moved the family to Oklahoma City where he established a successful business as a barber. Nadine gained employment with Humpty Dumpty where she worked in the company warehouse filling grocery orders for dispatch. In 1969, his health failing, George retired to settle on 45 acres east of Panola. He and Nadine were proprietors of the Dallas Club near Keota at the time of his death in 1970. Nadine worked as an inspector/mender for Congoleum in Wilburton in the 1970s, and in later years as a nurse’s aide at Latimer County Nursing Home. She moved to Stigler in 1999 where she was a familiar face at local garage sales. She enjoyed family history and reading, and was an avid gardener with a particular love of asparagus

She was a loving wife and mother, homemaker, provider, confidant and, above all, a survivor. She is missed by all who loved her.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Anoma Lee Cupp and Mozell Robinson; and brothers, Bill, Cecil and Carl Cupp.

She is survived by daughter, Reta Ballard (Manuel) of Stigler; sons, Chris Miller (Lael) of Houston, Texas and Farrell Miller (Carman) of Santa Rosa, Calif.; grandchildren, Angela Proe (Terry) and Shanna Rust (Tracy), and Matthew, Benjamin, Stephen (Amanda) and Christine Miller; and great-grandchildren Mary Beth and William Rust; Sara, Christopher, and Michael Proe; Anna, Audrey, Autumn, Reese, Penelope, Keira, Surafel, Esrael, Ethan and Lincoln Miller, and Chloe Cortez.
