Mildred P. Smith

Mildred P. Smith, 74, passed on Nov. 6, 2017, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark.
She was preceded in death by husband, Joe O. Smith; and mother, Rachel E. Sink of Roanoke, Va.
She is survived by her father, Archie Puckett of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Jenie Fuertes of Virginia Beach, Va., Judy Noriega of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Laura Guerra and husband, Keith Guerra, of Alma, Ark., Joanna Matthews and husband, Gordon Farrington, of Stigler, Josie Smith of Stigler; five grandchildren, Brent Dillard, Logan Guerra and Belize Guerra, Rachel Matthews and Lilean Matthews, and Caleb Smith.
She was a self-employed salon owner for 30 years in Virginia Beach, Va. After retiring, she was in real estate, became rookie of year and then moved to Stigler in 1995, where she and husband Joe Ottice made a homestead in Tamaha. She was active in Head Start and also worked for the election board. She also volunteered around the community. She was a known author, artist and inventor. She wasn’t only a Granny to her own grandchildren, she was also a Granny to all that loved her, both family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
