Mike Vail

Mike Vail, 62, of McCurtain, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019. He was born Dec. 17, 1956, in McAlester to Homer and Otheda (Taylor) Vail. 

He grew up in Canadian and Hoyt. He graduated from Stigler High School in 1975 and graduated from Oklahoma State University - Okmulgee with a HVAC certificate. Mike married Barbara Gregg on Dec. 2, 1991. They made their home in Warner. He began a career as a millwright until his retirement. He worked on many projects all over the U.S. He was an outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, loved watching sports of all kinds. Mike adored his grandchildren and loved all kids. 

Mike is survived by his daughter, Michaela and Brian Vance of Stigler; a stepson, Gary Don Gregg Jr. and Ashley of Tahlequah; four grandchildren, Brentley Gregg, Peyton Gregg, Aidan Vance and Christopher Vance; his brother, Jerry Vail and wife, Teresa, of Lequire; the mother of their daughter, Barbara Vail; Dominique Price was considered his adopted daughter; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved Yorkie, Heidi.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Homer Vail; his mother and stepfather, Otheda and Beecher McCoy and a brother, James Leroy Vail.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Lequire Baptist Church with the Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Pallbearers includes Sean Haney, John Vail, Jerred Vail, Brian Vance, Gary Don Gregg Jr., Donny Robertson, Blake Parks and Damon Robertson. Honorary pallbearers included Charles Don Robertson, Larry McGuire, Ernie Parks, John Denny, Gerald Cleveland, Randy Mouser, David Shaw and Doyle Smith.

Burial followed at Hoyt Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home.
