Michael Murray

Michael Dean Murray 64, of Viola, Kan. passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at his home and entered his forever home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born Oct. 22, 1953, in Wasco, Calif. to (Loil) LD and Grace (Morris) Murray.
Michael married Kathryn Alysworth on April 9, 1997, in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Wichita, Kan. and later moved to Viola, Kan. Michael made his career with Bombardier. The first part of his career was with BFTC and later moved to the BAS Center as a hydraulic tech reaching 20 years of service before he retired. Michael loved his family, and those grandbabies were his world.
Michael is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathryn Murray of the home; four sons, Michael Ty Murray and Michael James Murray of California, Joseph Gilbert of McCloud, Dennis Gilbert of Hodgen; two daughters, Amber Hallinger of Wichita and Tiara Allen and husband, Dustin, of Viola, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, Kaleb, Caliegh, Masyn, Braydyn, Ashlyn, Hailey, Alliana, Dustin, Mahkenzey, Kyler, Keenan, Kathryn, Troye, Trace; a brother, Tommy Murray of Harrah; three sisters, Wanema Murray of New Lenox, Ill., Kathryn Hartness of Checotah, Laura Smith and husband, Randy of Porum; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, LD and Grace Murray; a granddaughter, Virginia Cook; a sister, Tammy Murray; a brother-in-law, Larry Hartness; nephew, Christopher Michael Smith.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with speaker Diane Neal. Eulogist was Krystal Bryant.
Pallbearers included Dustin Allen, Chris Armes, Randy Joe Smith, Joseph Gilbert, Matthew Murray and Dusty Hartness. Honorary pallbearers included Cody Quinton, Dennis Gilbert and Andy Lozier.
Burial followed at Fields Cemetery in Porum under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
