Mary Ellen Nixon

Mary Ellen Nixon, of McCurtain was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Susquehanna County, Pa., to Herman and Mary Jane Cary Hughes. She passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, in Tulsa at the age of 69.
Mary is survived by her husband, Raymond “Brassy” Nixon of the home; two daughters, Frances and husband, Mark Walls of Shady Point, and Kim and husband, Tim Johnson of McCurtain; two sons, Chris Belcher of Ft. Smith, Ark., and Billy and wife, Roseanne Nixon of McCurtain; two sisters, Liz “Boopie” Watkins of Grand Prairie, Texas and Brenda Hughes of Cedar Hill, Texas; three brothers, R.L. Bennett of McCurtain, Ronnie Bennett of Red Oak, Texas and Chuckie Hughes of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Nicholas, Tristion, Brooklyn, Bethany, Lillian, Katelyn, Ryan, Dylan, Timothy and Dakoda.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mary Hughes; four brothers, Robert Bennett, Dale Hughes, Brian Bennett and Raymond Bennett; and one sister, Linda Watson.
Services were held July 5 at McCurtain Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Steve Ashe officiating. Burial followed at Milton Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Henry Nixon, Curtis Nixon, Norman Nixon, RD Allen, Jimmy Nixon and Tim Johnson.
