Marlita Joye Roye

Marlita “Marty” Joye Roye, 62, of Krebs, passed away Monday, May 15 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, after developing complications from pneumonia.
Marty was born Nov. 27, 1954, in Poteau to Ruth J. (Fraser) Roye and Charles D. Roye. Marlita began her school years at Kinta, was transferred to Stigler when in the fourth grade and graduated from Stigler High School in 1973. Marty attended Connors State College in Warner for about one year, at which time she met her future husband. After she married, she moved to Krebs where she worked in a sewing factory. After her son, Kelly, was born, Marty devoted all her time and attention to caring for and raising him. When she and her husband divorced, Marty moved back to Stigler for a short time, however she considered Krebs to be her home and she eventually returned there to continue her life.
Mary enjoyed hobbies such as braiding colorful strips of cloth into rugs for her home. She was talented at crocheting, she was a whiz at putting together jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed collecting coupons and saving money with them, and she sometimes liked to pass the time by completing word search puzzles.
In the earlier days of the computer revolution, Marty was already in on the Internet action, surfing the Web, joining chat rooms and making friends with people. When Facebook arrived, Marty was there too, talking to people, making new acquaintances and renewing old ones. Marlita also loved to collect toys and over the years she amassed a collection of unusual Pez containers and Hot Wheels cars and toys. She delighted in searching out the miniature cars and researching the rising values of the toys, as well as showing others what she had discovered. Marty had a great sense of humor and is fondly remembered for her one-line or one-word zingers. Most of all, Marty loved spending time with her son and granddaughter.
Marty is survived by one son, Kelly Floyd of Krebs and one granddaughter, Hayley (Floyd) Jewel and her husband, Timothy Jewell, of the home.
