Mark ‘Coot’ McCullar

Mark “Coot” McCullar was born in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 13, 1955 to Markey and Claudia (Sutter) McCullar. He passed away in McCurtain on June 26, 2020, at the age of 64.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; his mother, Claudia Wathan of Oklahoma City; his children, David Helstein and wife, Shannon, of Shady Point, Stacey Dill and husband, Larry, of McCurtain, Jenny Anderson and husband, Brandon, of McCurtain; his brothers, Robert McCullar and wife, Terrie, of Pocola, Preston Neil of Oklahoma, John Darmon Anderson of Stigler, Arthur Wathan and wife, Apple, of Oklahoma City; his sisters, Kitty Flynn of Lavaca, Ark., Patty Bettencourt of Roland and Barbara Kelly of Las Vegas, Nev.; his grandchildren: Candice, Christen, Dominick and wife, Holly, T’Keyah, Dawson, Anthony “Man” and wife, Shae, Keisha, Promise, Whitney and husband, Jeff, Brianna, Rebecca, Levi, Samantha, Zach, and Rick; his great-grandchildren, Dagan, Cambree, Braylee, Serenity, Jaylee, Jesse, Natalee, Georgia, Kamryn, DaiQuan, Maverick, Myla, Xander, Traegon, Liberty, Remington, Raelin, Traeston, Maci, Clayton, Emberlee, and Karsyn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Markey McCullar; his brothers, Ricky McCullar and Willard “Buddy” Nixon; his sister, Ronell Nixon; and his great-grandson, Cohen McCullar.

Viewing was held at Mallory Chapel in Stigler from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, June 29 and 30.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at McCurtain High School Auditorium with the Rev. Travis Palmer officiating. Interment followed at Milton Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Pallbearers were Oliver Taylor, J.T. Hunter, James Hunter, Jerrod Hunter, John Darmon Anderson and Scotty Dugan. 

Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Carlile, Terry Nixon,  Lynn McCafferty, David Self and Stan Self.
