Lola Nix

Lola Johnson Nix, passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2016, in Quinton. Lola was born April 20, 1927, in Blocker, the loving daughter of Carl and Mary Johnson.
Lola grew up in Kinta on the San Bois Creek. She attended and graduated from Kinta Public School, and she was a star basketball player in high school.
In August of 1945, Lola married the love of her life, John J. Nix, and they celebrated 71 years of marriage. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of their three children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In 1975, John and Lola opened Nix’s Grocery and Station in Quinton. As long-time business owners their customers soon became dear friends.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren as they participated in their high school activities.
Lola is survived by her husband, John, of the home; their three children, Tom Nix and wife, Cherie, of Stigler, Ronnie Nix of Muldrow and Debbie West and husband, Mike, of Quinton; her grandchildren, Cindy Reid, Misty Parker and husband, David, Justin Nix and wife, Patti, Angie Denny and husband, Jack, Kristina Nix, Josh Nix and wife, Kaylen, Mike West Jr. and wife, Katrina, Candace Few and husband, Jeff, Jonathon West, and Steve West and wife, Mandy; her great-grandchildren, Tara and Ahren Reid, Ryan Parker, Christian and Jayden Nix, Joshua and A.J. Ford, Aubrey Nix, Journey and Jax West, Zach and Moose Few, Jaden, Stanton and Sadie West; great-great-grandchild, Kambri Reid; one brother, Ray Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Harvey Ledford, Carl M. Johnson and Jessie Johnson; and her sisters, Shelba Barlow, Laura Willis and Maxine Fimpel; and grandson, Jonathan Nix.
Private graveside services were held Oct. 8 at Ash Creek Cemetery in Blocker with the Rev. Wendall Maxwell officiating under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
