Leona Gossett

Leona Christine Gossett, 91, of Keota, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Ft Smith.
She was born March 27, 1925, in Keota to William and Margaret (Palmer) Lee.
Leona grew up in Keota where she received her education.
She married Morgan Gossett on Jan. 9, 1945, and they made their home in Keota and raised their family.
Leona loved hunting, bass and crappie fishing. She played softball and also coached softball.
She never met a stranger and could talk your ear off about her fishing and hunting experiences. She was a special lady and wasn’t afraid of anything. She loved spending time with her family.
Leona is survived by her two sons, Ronnie Gossett and Mitch Gossett of Keota; her daughter, Judy Real of Aurora, Mo.; her five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Lee; her husband, Morgan Gossett; a son Tommy Gossett.
Graveside services were held Dec. 10 at Keota Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Kates officiating.
Burial  followed under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Steve Carry, Jerry Lee, Andy Taylor Darrell Perry, Dall Maxwell, Trucky Maxwell and Travis Gossett.
