Leon E. Brazil

Leon E. Brazil of Kinta was born May 20, 1928, in Russellville to Burley Herbert and Ella Adella (Pollard) Brazil and passed away Nov. 11, 2016, in Quinton at the age of 88.
He is survived by one daughter, Ginger Blankenship and husband Ronnie of Quinton; grandchildren, Brad Blankenship and wife Karen, Kevin Blankenship, Matthew Brown, Brittany Chapman and husband Matt, Jacob Johnston, Matthew Brown and wife Skylar; great-grandchildren, Jordan Blankenship, Bryce Blankenship, Noah Blankenship, Kenslee Blankenship, Eli Blankenship, Dylan Blankenship, Austin Ellenwood, Jace Johnston; several nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice Brazil; one daughter, Cynthia Johnston; five sisters, Edna Thomas, Dorothy Scroggins, Velma King, Grace Weatherford and Maxine Carter; two brothers, Melvin “Shorty” Brazil and Gussie “Buster” Brazil; and his parents.
Leon married Clarice Williams in Holy Oak, Mass., on Aug. 17, 1951, and they were married for 63 years. He also served in the Air Force for four years, two years of that in Germany. Leon was a member and deacon of the Quinton Christian Church.
Services were held Nov. 15 at First Church of God with the Rev. Charles Thomas and the Rev. Heath Eldridge officiating.
Burial followed at Quinton City Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Brad Blankenship, Kevin Blankenship, Matthew Brown, Matt Chapman, Jordan Blankenship, Bryce Blankenship, Jacob Johnston, Noah Blankenship, Eli Blankenship, Dylan Blankenship, Jace Johnston and Austin Ellenwood.
Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Poague, Tom Shelton, Bob Greer, Fred Russell, Jerry Fowler, Ray Cloud and Bill Matthews.
