Leon Daniels

Leon Daniels 70, of Kinta, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at his home. He was born March 7, 1946, in Kinta to Louise Daniels.
He grew up in Kinta and graduated with the Class of 1964.
Leon married Jean Basden Oct. 1, 1966, in Stigler. They made their home in Kinta. He began a career in the oilfield for Wolford & Jenkins for several years before beginning a career with Mustang Fuel in the mid 1980’s and retired after nearly 30 years.
He was Kinta Fire Chief, Kinta Town Mayor, and Sewer Superintendent, as well as a long-time deacon at Kinta First Baptist Church where he was saved Sept. 21, 1974.
Leon is survived by his wife, Jean Daniels of the home; two daughters, Gina Choate of Kinta, Leslie and Johnny Jo McKee of Quinton; grandchildren, Blayne and Cale Heath, Hattie McKee, Boni, Max and Cash Choate and his mother, Louise Randall.
He was preceded in death by his stepdad, James Randall; a brother, Fred Daniels; an uncle, Lonzo Daniels.
Services were held Sept. 26 at Kinta First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Easley officiating. Eulogist was the Rev. Jeff Bengs. Burial followed at Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Kinta Fire Department, Don Allen, James Allen, Scott Kniess, Jonathan Bailes, Wendell Sexton, Rodney Holden, Phil Cantrell and Eddie Slane.
Honorary pallbearers were Kinta First Baptist Church deacons, C.B. Coplen, Ralph Carpenter, Bill Mathews, Scott Kniess, Jim Myers and Kenneth Whitehead.
