Lear ‘Buzzy’ Paul

Lear E. “Buzzy” Paul, 85, of McCurtain passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Broadway Manor Health Care Center in Muskogee. He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in McCurtain to Steve and Mamie (Doris) Paul.
Buzzy grew up in McCurtain, where he was educated. He served his country in the Army. He married Bea Watts on Nov. 15, 1954, in Poteau and they made their home in McCurtain. He worked as a coal miner for many years. After the mines closed, he worked for Riverside Furniture Co. for many years until his retirement. He loved raising cattle, staying busy on the farm, hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, and loved his dog, “Pete.” He was a member of McCurtain Assembly of God Church.
Buzzy is survived by his son, Michael Paul and wife, Sheila, of McCurtain; his daughter, Barbara Thomas and Mike Susmilch of McCurtain; three grandchildren, Lear Don Paul and wife, Deanna, of Poteau, Kandy Grogan and husband, Brad, of Red Oak, LaDonna Cash and husband, Brandon, of Sherman, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Carl, Ashley, Kendra, Shay, Chase, Kaeli, Hunter, Tobi and Nathan; four great-great-grandchildren, Kam, Tucker, Anistyn and Tracen; a sister, Daisy Brookshire of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Manuel Paul and wife, Mary Ann, of Spiro.
Buzzy was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mamie Paul; his wife of 62 years, Bea Paul; three brothers, JR Paul, Richard Paul and Theodore Paul; two sisters, Betty Ann Boren and Christine Paul.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at McCurtain Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating.
Burial followed in Miners Cemetery at McCurtain under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
