Larry Eacret

Larry Burl Eacret passed away on Oct. 7, 2018, in Midwest City at the age of 65. He was born on April 13, 1953, in Tamaha to Arthur Burl Eacret and Vonnie Mae Bell Tate.

He attended school in Tamaha and then in Wellton, Ariz. in the 1950s and 1960s. He moved back to Oklahoma in the early 1970s and resided in the Tulsa area until he began working for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in the early 1980s, where he worked until retiring after 30 years.

Larry was a great artist who loved drawing, cooking, jewelry making and telling stories. He wrote a book based on the stories our father would tell us children about possums and other critters. It was entitled “The Burl Possum Family Adventures.”

He is survived by his mother, Vonnie Eacret of Stigler; four sisters, Kathy Strong of Stigler, Lora Nunn of Fresno, Calif., Teresa Cook (who took care of him) of Midwest City and Evie Gonzagowski (and Mark) of Van Buren, Ark.; his brother, Billie Eacret (and Raul Leal); his beloved dog, Doobie and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Larry was proceeded in death by his father, Burl Eacret; brothers Jim, Evert, Hebert, Stevie and Floyd and sister Judy.
