Ken ‘Sarge’ Mosing

Ken Douglas “Sarge” Mosing, of Stigler, was born May 29, 1942, in Topeka, Kan., to Wade and Margaret (Tippie) Mosing and passed away Sept. 13, 2016, in Oklahoma City at the age of 74.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of 26 years; one daughter, BreAnna Mosing and partner Heather of Tulsa; one stepson, Brent Wright and wife Emily of Stigler; one sister, Suzann Hocott and husband Paul of Kansas City, Mo.; one niece, Mia Hocott of Kansas City, Mo.; one nephew, David Hocott of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Blake Wright and wife Kayla of Stigler, Emilie and Bethany Wright of Stigler; one great-grandson, Carter Wright of Stigler.
Ken Mosing graduated with the class of 1959 in Raytown, Kan., and joined the Army.
He was in the marching band and played the tuba. Ken fought in the Vietnam Conflict off and on from 1959-1974, then, he patrolled the Panama Canal and was there for the drug lord Noriega take down.
In 1989, he was diagnosed with throat cancer which resulted in retiring; and he retired to work at the armory in Stigler.
He then met Donna Ballard and they got married Nov. 19, 1989.
Until he was honorably discharged, he worked at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods department, and general pallets until he became 110 percent disabled.
Ken enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with his family, classical music, and he never missed an episode of “Price is Right” or “Jeopardy.”
Above all, he was proud to serve his country.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Margaret Mosing; maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorial services were held Sept. 16 at Mallory Chapel with Bro. Tommie Parker officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
