Kathryn ‘Kay’ Cox

Kathryn “Kay” E. Cox, 93, of Kinta was born on June 18, 1925, in Bixby and returned to her heavenly home on Feb. 14, 2019. What beautiful timing for her to be called home, on the day most celebrate love, as her heart was so full of love. Kathryn can most simply be described as a blessing, making it her priority to bring joy to others. Her devotion to her family and Christ was a part of her core and she was often found to be witnessing by way of ministry to others, showing grace and kindness above all else. Kathryn prided herself on being very involved within the church community; this having been instilled in her since childhood. Kathryn touched many lives simply by her presence alone. Kathryn spent the majority of her life providing for her family as a homemaker in Kinta.

Kathryn was born to the late Richard and Thelma Evans. Kathryn was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Naomi “Sue” and Howard Rankin, of Seminole; a brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Violet Evans of Irvin, Texas; an infant brother, Eugene Evans; her son, Richard “Ricky” Cox of Kinta and her beloved husband of 65 years, Austin Cox of Kinta.

Kathryn is survived by five children who she loved dearly along with their spouses, Lavonne Cogburn and husband, Denver, of Kinta, Jana McElyea and husband, Larry, of Canadian, Austin Cox and wife, Donna, of Holdenville, Dan Cox and wife, Billie, of Muskogee and Bryan Cox and wife, Michelle, of Brooken. Kathryn is survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at Kinta First Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, with the Rev. Larry McElyea officiating.

Pallbearers were her beloved grandsons and family.

Burial followed at Quinton Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
