Juanita Nichols

Juanita Marie Nichols, 89, also known as Granny, of Stigler was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Grady, Ark. to Zora Alvin Fugate and Dorothy Frances Bitely and passed away at Mitchell Manor, McAlester on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at 3:15 p.m.

Juanita graduated college with an Associate of Arts in Business. She worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life. Juanita started sewing as a young girl and continued that as well. She taught all seven of her children to sew. For many years she made/decorated extreme birthday and wedding cakes. She blessed many with her sewing, crocheting and knitting. She made several hundred pillowcase dresses for her church to send over seas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stigler. She never met a stranger, she had a super smile that everyone noticed and commented on. She was full of life and every chance she got she would spread God’s word.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Cragun of McAlester, Roy Waldron of McAlester, Wade and Karen Waldron of Stigler, Granger Waldron of McAlester; numerous grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and three of her sons, Jerry Jackson, Ralph Jackson and Dennis Jackson.

There will be no services. Her final resting place will be Westminster, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to help with cremation costs. Memorials may be made to Juanita Nichols, % Brenda Cragun, 2214 Apple Blossom Ave. McAlester, OK 74501. (918) 490-1630.
