Joseph Hoover

Joseph Hoover, known to his friends and close associates as “Joe,” passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at the age of 75 years.

Joe was known for his humor and storytelling as well as his love for OU football.

Joe is survived by his wife, Montie; his son, Ken and his sister, Laveene Cooper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was a member of the Stigler Chamber of Commerce and owner of Hoover Drug until he retired.  Joe was also involved with the local Jaycee chapter and served as president and was named Jaycee of the Year for Oklahoma in 1973. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, and through the help of others, drew attention to scholarship and charitable organizations. The family takes great comfort in knowing Joe is with his brother, Lee, planning defensive schemes for OU’s 2019 season and his mother, Lona Queen Hoover, who was undeniably proud of the man he became.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 N. York Street in Muskogee on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to the charity of your choice in the name of a loved one in your family.
