Johnny Sweeden

Johnny Steve Sweeden, 72, of Kinta, passed away at Lona Valley on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was born Nov. 22, 1946, in Lona Valley to Eugene Hayes and Helen Kathryn (Raper) Sweeden. He grew up in Lona Valley and graduated from Kinta High School. Johnny married Judy Cooper on Sept. 2, 1964, in Poteau. They made their home in Lona Valley. He worked at Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture for some 10 years. Then he founded Big Guy’s Auction from the mid 80s until 2011. Johnny loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved bee keeping.

Johnny is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Judy Sweeden of the home; his son, Shawn Sweeden and wife, Robin, of Lona Valley; his daughter, Mindi Fitzer and husband, Justin, of Lona Valley; four grandchildren, Hunter Fitzer, Colton Sweeden, Aspen Fitzer and Skylar Sweeden; a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Kay Shelton and husband, Thomas, of Quinton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Dale Winkle of Coweta, Eddie Cooper and Caroletta of McCurtain and Annette and Joe Buntin.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Rennick and stepfather, Everett Rennick and his father, Eugene Hayes Sweeden.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Kinta First Baptist Church with the Rev. Fitzer officiating. Pallbearers include Jade Fitzer, Hunter Fitzer, Colton Sweeden, Cobe Cook, Terry McGee and Wesley Shelton. Honorary pallbearer is Don Allen.

Burial will follow to Lona Valley Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home.
