JM Kennedy, 83, of Porum, passed away Sunday morning, July 22, 2018, at Eastgate Village Healthcare Center in Muskogee. He was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Porum to Dee and Pearl (Hutton) Kennedy. He grew up in Porum, where he graduated from Porum High School. He married Etta Lou Lance in Bakersfield, Calif. They made their home in Ohio and Michigan for several years and settled in Porum and started his own successful business, Kennedy Dry Wall and raised their family there.
JM loved tending to his farm and raising a garden. He retired in 2013 and enjoyed spending time with his family.
JM is survived by his two daughters, Ronda Jackson and husband, Rick, of Porum, Shannon Kennedy and Mike Parsons of Porum; two sons, Johnny Kennedy and wife, Trina, of Wagoner, Jason Kennedy of Porum; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous brothers, sisters and other relatives.
JM is preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Pearl Kennedy; his wife, Etta Lou Kennedy; a brother, Albert Lietch; a grandfather, John Hutton.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Coleman Cemetery with Mr. Jim Whitman officiating.
Honorary pallbearers included Michael Parsons, Buck Kennedy, Ty Parsons, Lonny Davis, Tyler Deaton, Matt Hubbard, Ben Hall and Eli Terrell.
Burial followed immediately under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
