Jessie Ela Hanscom

Jessie Ela (Long) Hanscom was born on Nov. 15, 1922, in Porum, to Jesse and Flora (Reeves) Long.  She passed away in Muskogee, on Nov. 22, 2019, at the age of 97.

She is survived by two daughters, Janette Feldick and husband, Greg, of Kinta and Randa Huey and husband, Dennis, of Greeley, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jerrie Hall of Skiatook and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jessie Ela was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Hanscom; her son, Stephen Hanscom; her parents, Jesse and Flora Long; nine brothers and sisters; and her great-great-granddaughter, Annelease King.

Jessie Ela loved her family and pets and was an avid reader. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing garments for her family and toys for her grandchildren, folk art rug hooking and cooking.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Porum with the Rev. Daniel Henson officiating. Interment followed at Coleman Cemetery in Porum under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Viewing was at Mallory Chapel in Porum from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday.

Pallbearers were Jesse Feldick, Dustin Williams,  Eric Shelly, Bryan Essex, Chris Williams and Victor Croy. 

Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Huey, Michael Griffin, Philip McIntosh, Justin Wells, Justin Hanscom, Matthew Hanscom and Keith Hall.
