Jesse Mahan

Jesse Oran Mahan, 61, of Kinta, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at his home.
He was born July 25, 1956, in Edmond to Eugene and Wilma (Baxter) Mahan.
Jesse was a good baby and grew up wanting to do things. We moved to Tucker Knob and lived on the Coblentz Property with the big lake and pasture for the horses.
He loved it there and fishing and going to Kinta School. He worked for neighbors and sold magazines through the school programs and won a hunting knife and gun. He worked some at a grocery store in Kinta and then got a job at Whirlpool even before he graduated.
He loved fishing in Mexico, riding motorcycles and going to country concerts.
He bailed hay on the side as well as sold insurance.
Jesse had a giving heart and I heard many say, “Jesse has a big heart.” He said he thought his calling was to help people and he reached out to those in need. He wasn’t perfect, but he said, “Momma, I pray every night and ask God to forgive me when I say or do something I shouldn’t do.”
Jesse had a lot of health problems and was in a lot of pain these last few years.
He worked at OG&E Electric many years and implemented 12-hour-shift plans that are still in use today. He retired from OG&E Power Plant in Muskogee after 30 years as a shift supervisor. He was very good at his job, which he loved.
Jesse loved Christmas and Thanksgiving family get togethers. He was raised up going to church and he believed in God and the Bible.
His last words to me that night on the phone were, “I love you all and I’ll see you in the morning, see you in the morning.”
Jesse is survived by his parents, Eugene and Wilma Mahan of Kinta; his wife Bonita Mahan of Quinton; his son, Jeffrey Mahan of Hartshorne; his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Clark Powell of Kinta; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Pansy Mahan; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Vina Baxter.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bob Inkenberry officiating.
Pallbearers included Charlie Garrett, DeWayne Shelton, David Shelton, Christin Shelton, Hanford Baxter and Carl Ford.
Honorary pallbearers included Clark Powell, Paul Bassinger, Ronald Baxter, Dearl Blaylock, Frank Wells, Danny Powell and Dustin Powell.
Burial followed in Quinton Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
