Jerry Poteet

Jerry Guy Poteet, 71, of Kinta, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1945, in Big Spring, Texas to Ted and Gloria (VanCleve) Poteet.
Jerry grew up at El Paso, Texas where he was educated. He served his country in the Navy. Jerry moved to Kinta in the early 1970s and became owner and operator of Poteet Service Station for many years. Then, he became a part of Duel Drilling and Shell Oil Co. and later Bear Production until his retirement. He loved his motorcycle and taking care of his land.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Renee of the home; his three sons, Mike Hunt and wife Amanda of Kinta, Jerry Guy Poteet Jr. of Stigler and Stephen Balding and Stephanie Norris; 11 grandchildren, Bryan, Cody, Amber, Jerrad, Harley, Jaylynn, John, Jason, Ezra, Elijah and Milo; five great-grandchildren, Token, Jackson, Jameson, Angel and Little John; two brothers, Joe Poteet and wife Joy of Lakeland, Fla. and Lewis Teal and wife Rita of Alburqueqe, N.M.; a sister, Vel Garrison and husband Jack of Plant City, Fla.; and mother of his two sons, Sandy Poteet of Stigler.
Funeral services were held April 5 at Trinity Baptist Church in Stigler with the Rev. Tommie Parker officiating. Burial followed immediately to Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Larry Mills, John Foreman, Robert Long, Harley Wakaty, Allen Loveall and Donnie Ary. Honorary pallbearers were Boyd King, Wesley Harp, Jim Stevens, Carl Ford and Mike Ford.
