Jean Peck

(Alma) Jean Ramsey Peck was born in Tulsa, Okla. on Dec. 14, 1933, to George and Lillian (Guthrie) Ramsey. She passed away on May 9, 2021, in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of 87.

Jean was baptized in the Baptist faith, graduated Central High School, and the University of Tulsa. She taught school for 30 years. Her first year at Sapulpa High School and the rest of her teaching career was with Tulsa Public Schools. She taught most of her years at McLain High School, then her last 12 years of teaching was at Webster High School.

After retiring from teaching she worked in the mental health unit for children and adolescents for 10 years at St. John’s Hospital.

After moving to Tamaha, Okla. she volunteered with the Haskell County Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years and was an active member of the VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary. She won the Donna Nigh Volunteer of the Year Award in April 2012. She was also a very active member of the Stigler Red Hat Ladies Group.

She is survived by two daughters, Laureé Walker and husband, Michael, of Stigler, Okla. and Marilyn Henderson and husband, David, from VanAlstyne, Texas; her grandson, Sam Walker and wife, Jessica, of Stigler, Okla.; and her great-grandchildren, Kohen and Denver Walker of Stigler, Okla.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Peck; her parents, George Washington Ramsey and Lillian Guthrie Ramsey; and her sister, Mary Ellen Ramsey.

Family visitation will be held at Mallory Chapel in Stigler from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa with the Rev. Mike Walker officiating and Sam Walker as eulogist.  Interment under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.
