James “Jim” Daniel Love, 82, passed away Nov. 22, 2019, in Stigler, following surgery for a broken leg.

A memorial service was  held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the First United Methodist Church in Stigler.

Jim was born on July 14, 1937, in Fort Smith, Ark. to Geneva and Dan Love.  He spent two years skipping classes at Fort Smith Junior College (Westark/UAFS) to play gin rummy with his best friend, Bobby Hendren. Two years of Marine reserves convinced him that working as an abstract agent might be a better calling. Jim married Mary Beth (Beth) Edmonds on July 1, 1960.  Following the birth of their two sons, he moved the family to Stigler in 1965 to be closer to family. Jim transitioned to a career as a petroleum landman in the early 70s, retiring after over 20 years as a landman.

Jim was active in the community. He was active with both the Jaycees and Lions Club. He enjoyed many years singing with the choir in the Methodist Church. Jim was also a member of the Shrine and Scottish Rite, and had received his 50-year pin for membership in Stigler Lodge #121 earlier this year.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Geneva, as well as his wife, Beth.

He is survived by his sons and their wives, James and Linda Love of Stigler and John Love and Glenda Casteel of Yukon; one grandson, James David Love II (JD), currently a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma. He is also survived by two sisters, Lida and husband Bill Taylor of Fort Smith, Ark. and Rhonda King of Carrollton, Texas.
