Jack Horace Wilson of Enterprise was born on Sept. 4, 1942,  in Dustin to Horace and Lucille (Drennan) Wilson. He passed away in Tulsa on Nov. 1, 2019, at the age of 77.

Jack grew up east of Dustin living with his grandparents until he graduated from high school in 1961. During his senior year he met the love of his life, Janis Provence, whom he later married in 1963.  From this union two children were born; a daughter, Sonya Wilson of Muskogee and son Todd Wilson and wife, Relinda, of Quinton.

Jack graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and history from then Central State University in 1965. A master’s degree in Secondary Administration was later completed in 1973 from East Central University. Coaching and teaching stints along the way included stops at Ralston, Kinta, Coalgate, Dustin, Talihina, Savanna and Wilburton, while also serving a short time as high school principal at Whitesboro. Highlights of his long career include several trips to the state baseball tournament with the Kinta Eagles and state basketball tournament trips with Ralston girls, Kinta boys, Talihina girls and Savanna girls. Jack was named All-State girls’ coach in 1981 and was inducted into the Oklahoma Girls’ Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1994.

After retirement, Jack enjoyed playing dominos, weekly poker games, fishing, gardening and watching his beloved Yankees. The best part of retirement came when three grandchildren entered the picture; Bayler Fry and wife, Jennifer, of Tulsa, Ragan Fry of Muskogee and Rynda Wilson of Quinton were his pride and joy.  Jack loved camping and fishing with his grandkids as well as attending their sporting events, stock shows and graduations.

Jack was of the Baptist faith and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Lucille Wilson and his loving grandparents, John and Sophia Drennan.
