Imajean King Thomas

Willie Imajean Thomas, daughter of Pate and Gertrude Jane Etchison Mackey, was born April 26, 1925, on what is now called the Old Ogden home place in Pittsburg County, just outside Quinton, Okla. She departed this life Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at the age of 95 in her home in Okmulgee surrounded by family.

Imajean grew up in Quinton, Okla. with Aunt Billye Faye who was more like a sister to her. She attended Quinton School and in early spring of 1943, Imajean was united in marriage to William Dale King of Quinton. To this union, Eddie Lafayette, Larry Wayne, Judy Carol, James Michael and Gary Dale were born.

Imajean was a homemaker throughout her life, providing everything possible for her children. She loved gospel music and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful life. 

Imajean moved to Okmulgee in December of 1988 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Her annual birthday party was a time when more of her family got together than any other holiday during the year.

Imajean was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her grandchildren, Larry Wayne and Carol Diane; her grandparents, Ed and Ada Etchison; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Alonza King. 

She was a very proud, devoted mother survived by her children, Eddie King of the home, Larry and Glenda King of Sapulpa, Okla., Judy Lewis of Okmulgee, Okla., Michael and Dianne King of Okmulgee, Okla. and Gary King of Claremore, Okla. She was grandmother to 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Jan. 21, 2021, at Quinton Cemetery, Quinton, Okla. Pastor Randall Pearce officiated and music was -by Vonda Roberts, of the Gospel Cousins.
