Huston Francis PeevyHouse, 96, Veteran, Tinker Air Base, Elliot-Warren VFW Post 4446, Stigler water plant operator.

Huston passed away due to natural causes on June 2, 2020, in residence at the ODVA Veterans Home in Claremore. He was born April 13, 1924 to Frank and Lillie Peevyhouse in the community of Antioch and grew up in the Rocky Ridge Community, both near Stigler.

He retired from the city of Stigler as the Stigler water treatment operator. Prior to that he served in the Army during WWll with tours of duty in Burma, Fiji Islands, Australia, Fort Riley, Kans. and Fort El Reno. Following the war, Huston lived in Oklahoma City where he worked as a mechanic supervisor at Tinker Air Base. Following his Tinker job, he moved his family back to Stigler where he assumed the post of Stigler Water Treatment Operator.

Huston is survived by his wife, Virginia Peevyhouse of Ozark, Ark.; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Terrie and Boyd McCullar, Debbie and Steve Barnes and Robin and Ruban Hernandez; two daughters and son-in-law by his first wife Lillian, Glenda and Vernon Hawkins, Mary Frances Watts; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law by second wife, Lillie, Sherry and David McDonald, MeShelle and Bobby Baker; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bufford and Jean  Peevyhouse, James and Wanda Peevyhouse; three sisters, Anna Lou Pugh, Lennie Stubblefield and Wanda Faye Hall; 16 grandchildren and spouses, Teresa Gale  and Eddie Roper, Brian and Tangie Ballard, Kelsey and Kevin Clarke, Shane and Jessica Bates, Christina and Joe Huffman, Nicole Mathews, Ashley and Matthew Martella, Marissa and Derik McKenzie, Jennifer McCullar, Heath and Kaylee Stanfield, Dane and Nicole Stanfield, Samantha Hawkins, Crystal and Danny Hutchinson, Beau and Barbara Hodges, Patrick Hodges, Mathew Hernandez; 16 great-grandchildren, Galan Ballard, Casey Ballard, Katelynn Davis, Jonah, Caelin, Kyran, Gracen, Selah, Jolen, Josiah Huffman, Cooper Bates, Katy Bates, Kacelynn Merreighn, Kaevri Mathews, Karson Mathews and Baby Boy Martella; 10 great-great-grandchildren, Beau, Axel, Adin, Grace, Azzie, Corbin, Scarlet, Blake, LoureLai and Camryn and a multitude of nieces, nephews and others that we’ve missed as we find our short-term memory to be lacking. We do apologize.

Huston was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillie (Reid) Peevyhouse, first wife, Lillian (Anderson) Peevyhouse; second wife, Lillie (Medlock) Peevyhouse; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Dovie Peevyhouse, Robert and Beatrice Peevyhouse, Willie and Lucille Peevyhouse; two sisters and brothers-n-law, Julia and Sam Carlile, Myrtle and Otis Bowen; three brothers-in-laws, John Pugh, Jimmy Stubblefield and Author Pearson. 

Honorary pallbearers included Lonnie Peevyhouse, Bobby Baker, Chuck McCarmish, Tom Highfill, David McDonald and the Honor Guard of Elliot-Warren VFW Post 4446 of Stigler.

Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at Antioch Cemetery in Stigler under the direction of King & Shearwod Funeral Home of Stigler.
