Helen Henry

Helen L. (Tallman) Henry, 80, of Stigler, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Haskell County Nursing Center, Stigler. She was born June 16, 1936, at Cannastota, N.Y., to Lauren and Jessie (Davis) Tallman. She grew up in Utica, N.Y., where she received her education.
She served her country in the Army for three years in Korea. She married Jack Henry on Aug. 8, 1959, and they made their home in Mangum.
Helen began a career as a nurse. Later, she worked at Edison Elementary Cafeteria in Mangum for 20 years until her retirement. She moved to Whitefield in 2009.
Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, exercising, supporting the American Legion and playing bingo.
Helen is survived by her three sons, Brian Henry and wife, Kay, of Amarillo, Texas, David Henry and wife, Debbie, of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Jim Henry of Martha; her three daughters, Jacquelin Morris and husband, Gerald, of Whitefield, JoAnn Leamon and husband, Tony, of Mangum and Barbara Escobar and husband, Eddie, of Martha; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Phyllis Tucker, Eleanor Madore, Kenneth Tallman, Mary Terry and Margaret Stratton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lauren and Jessie Tallman; two husbands, Jack Henry and Clay Carpenter; two siblings, Francis Tallman and Robert Tallman.
Services were held Sept. 9 at Living Water United Pentecostal Church in Mangum, with the Rev. David Weber officiating. Eulogy, David Henry. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Matthew Escobar, Dustin Leamon, Santos Montablo, Brian Henry Jr., Canaan Henry and Sam Montablo. Honorary pallbearer was James Thomas Morris.
